 The population of people whom have access to the Internet in 2001 has increased from 429 million in Quarter 1 to 459 million in Quarter 2. Among these numbers, 40% are located in the United States and Canada, still holding the position of the largest population area in the world. The number of people with access the Internet in Asia is increasing from 20% to 22% in Quarter 1 and Quarter 2 respectively.
In terms of online purchasing, most of the usage is happening between business transactions through e-marketplace, to make purchases without the limitation of geographic and distance problem. E-marketplace connects global buyers and sellers, and offers complete business intelligence to support and help purchasing. In the meantime, the introducing to e-marketplace is disordering and shaking the current structure of supply-chains.
